I am sick and tired of sitting in the house!!!!! I have to wait 8 weeks before I can do any kind of physical activity, and its only been 3 weeks since my surgery.
I'm bored as hell, and want to do something. Jessi's car is STILL broke down, so she is STILL taking my car to work. The only thing that I can do is walk around the apartment complex, but the heat index has been around 100 everyday so thats not happening much!
The main thing that is keeping me off of my feet is a pain in my side (literally). I'm guessing that it is a tendon since the pain is constant. I had to sleep in my recliner last night because the pain was so bad. I was tossing and turning and was afraid that Jessi would wake up.
But overall I'm doing good. everything is healing up nicely, I don't have much pain other than that listed above, and I am able to go places with no problems (well, when I have a car). I was able to do 4 push ups the other day before the pain started, so thats a plus. Actually, I might try to do some more now!

June 7th
I am finally starting to heal up. I can move around very easily and I can actually sleep in bed again (as opposed to my extremely uncomfortable recliner).
I went to my brother's house this weekend and slept on the couch both nights. I had normal pains on Saturday, but I didn't even have to take any pain medicine on Sunday, and thats after drinking beer the night before and spending the night on a couch that is about 5 inches too short.
The doctor said that I can start lifting weights, etc after 8 weeks, so I currently have 5 1/2 left. I plan on starting to walk around the apartment complex on Wednesday (after next doctor's appointment).
I am going bat shit insane right now due to the endless hours of sitting on my butt in the house, and so need to figure out how to be allowed to do something other than watch TV. If I see one more crab pot, I might just kill someone.
And yes, that damn show is on as I type this. And the remote is across the room. Damn.

A Good Day
Today has been interesting. I went with my wife to run errands, and got a really good workout in the process.
We went to Wal-Mart, Big Lots, some dollar store, and Bed Bath and Beyond. All of that equals up to a whole lot of walking, especially for someone who just had surgery a week ago. By the time we were finished, I was extremely worn out and definitely ready to go home. But, after getting home and resting for a few minutes, I felt fine. I'm still tired, but it's not as bad as I thought that it would be.
I guess I'll recuperate faster than I originally thought. I'm still soar and very swollen, but I am able to get around very easily and don't mind being in pain if it is the good kind (like today).
The only problem that I have run into is the other night when I slept in my bed. My stomach was stretched out all night long, and this made a part of my incision open up. It is in a spot that couldn't have staples due to the weird angle, so it was leaking for a while.
I finally drank a soft drink today, and did not get gas from it. I was afraid to drink one before since my body can't handle food and drinks properly at the moment. After my last surgery I drank a Coke and it felt like my stomach would explode, so this time I decided to wait a little while. This time I had a Mountain Dew (less carbonated) and felt fine.
On a completely unrelated note, it looks like both LSU and Southern have a really good chance of winning their conference championships. Its really fun being a college sports fan in Baton Rouge!

And it Begins....
I'm home!
The surgery went great, and I was only in the hospital for a few days. Now its time to heal up and get in to shape. I already did some squats this morning so that I could see just what I'm capable of. I was able to to do 16 fairly deep squats while holding onto a chair, but got a little light headed afterwards and my incisions started to hurt some.
I'm able to eat fairly well. Everything that I eat at the moment makes my stomach hurt, but that's because I still have a lot of gas and swelling from the surgery. My first meal when I got home was macaroni and cheese (hell yeah!), and I had a bowl of cereal and a half of a small pizza so far today. Not exactly health food, but for now I'm on a low fiber diet and need to eat high calorie foods since I can't fit much in my stomach.
I know that I need to take it easy, but if I listened to the doctors advice last time, I might still be using a walker. Funny story (at least to me) - last time I had surgery, I needed to use a walker. I have a very weird sense of humor, and so decided to name my walker (it was Walker, Texas Ranger). We met up with some friends one night at Chili's, and everyone was picking on me, saying we needed to go out to a night club and go dancing. I told them that they better watch out cause Walker Texas Ranger was gonna turn into my Nasty Dancer! Every time that I think about that, I get that song stuck in my head.....

1 Day Left
Well, I had a test this morning to make sure that I am healthy enough to have surgery tomorrow, and everything looks good.
I didn't actually get to talk to the doctor since I was still drugged up until we got home. He told Jessi that you can tell that I have Crohn's Disease, but that everything looks good. I had another test done a few weeks ago to look at the upper part of my GI system, and that one looked great.
I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's surgery, but I AM looking forward to the end results. Once I heal up I will be much, much healthier.
I am spending the day today looking up information on diets that I can try once I am able to work out again. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment along with links to sites with info on the diet. Thanks!
On another note - I have come to the conclusion that bowel prep kits were invented by Satan. This is the only way that something that tastes that terrible and has the results that this does could have been conceived.

Why I Started This Blog
I started this blog as a diary of my attempt to become as fit as a Navy SEAL (hence the title).
I know that there will not be many people reading this blog, but I don't care. I love to write, and ABSOLUTELY need to get into, and stay in, great shape.
I have Crohn's Disease, and have already had two surgeries because of it (had one, then the next day had to have another). I am having another surgery on Friday, and do not want to have any more. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired, and have finally decided to do something about it.
My doctor decided after the last time that I went into the hospital that I was too sick to go back to work. After a few months he gave me permission to go back, but only if I could find a job where they would let me go home when I got too tired, which happened three times per day (had to take a 2 hour nap each time - that got old quick!). So, needless to say, I never could find a job like that. I MUST get back into shape after this surgery so that I can start making some damn money again. It really hurts the fragile male ego to know that your wife is making money and you are sitting on your ass all day. That will NEVER happen again.
I am currently going back to college at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA, so will be able to use the Rec Center to work out once the Fall semester gets here. You can only workout during the semesters that you are enrolled full time, and I need the summer to recuperate.
The reason that I scheduled my surgery when I did was that the Spring semester just ended. This gives me a week off to do what ever I want, and then they slice me open! The last (and only) time that I had to recover from a surgery, I was extremely sick. I had not been able to eat anything for two months, was extremely anemic, and was so skinny and weak that I literally could not roll over in bed by myself. Before becoming sick I weighed 217 lbs (not sure how I remember that!), and when I went into the hospital, I weighed 100 lbs even (currently up to 225 - yes, I gained 125 lbs during the last year and a half). I really have no idea how long it will take to get better. It could take 2 weeks, it could take 2 months, it could take 8 months. I really have no idea. I know that I will only be in the hospital for 3-5 days, which is much better than the month that I spent last time. The only reason that I got out when I did was that I told the doctor that I would crawl out of the hospital and then crawl down Essen Lane to my house if I wasn't out by Christmas. He apparently could tell that I was dead serious, as he let me out on the 21st!
I will probably write more about the events that led me to this point in my life at a later date. As stated before, I love to write. It's the best, and cheapest, therapy available! I will definitely be writing about my workouts, my diet, and the trials that I have to face due to my surgery.
If I start whining and complaining about anything, please tell me to shut the hell up and get over it. I don't want to be that kind of person, and need all the help that I can get. Yeah, I can be a big baby sometimes.
